Lombok

Travelling to experience different cultures and landscapes can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience. For this reason, adventure travel and outdoor ed is often included in school curriculums. Working with our partner company, Rinjani Dawn Adventures, we have developed 6 and 4 day itineraries to serve the International Baccalaureate CAS and Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award programs. We are also developing longer programs for a more immersive experience, and can work with schools on customized itineraries, to meet specific needs.

    The International Baccalaureate CAS Program

    International Baccalaureate

The CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) program is a core element of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program, which is a rigorous pre-university course of study designed for highly motivated secondary school students aged 16 to 19. The CAS program is intended to help students develop a sense of personal and social responsibility, as well as to encourage creativity, physical activity, and community service.

The idea behind the CAS program is to provide students with opportunities to develop new skills, explore new interests, and engage in meaningful activities that contribute to their personal growth and development. Through the program, students are encouraged to take on challenges and risks, to think creatively and critically, and to work collaboratively with others.

    IB CAS Structure

The CAS program is structured around three pillars: creativity, activity, and service. Each pillar represents a different type of activity that students can engage in to meet the requirements of the program. Creativity activities might include things like music, drama, or visual arts. Physical activity could include sports, dance, or outdoor adventure. Service activities might involve volunteering or participating in community service

The goal of the CAS program is to help students become well-rounded individuals who are capable of contributing to their communities and making a positive difference in the world. By encouraging students to participate in a wide range of activities that challenge them and help them grow, the program helps students develop important life skills and values that will serve them well in college and beyond.

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award

    Duke of Edinburgh Awards

The Duke of Edinburgh‘s Awards are a youth awards program founded in 1956 by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The awards are open to all young people aged 1424 and are designed to encourage personal development and achievement. The awards are divided into three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold.

The Bronze level requires participants to complete four sections: Service, Physical Recreation, Skills, and Expedition. Service involves volunteering in the community, Physical Recreation involves taking part in physical activities, Skills involves developing a skill or hobby, and Expedition involves planning and completing an outdoor journey.

The Silver level requires participants to complete five sections: Service, Physical Recreation, Skills, Expedition, and Residential. Service and Physical Recreation are the same as the Bronze level, but Skills involves developing a skill or hobby to a higher level, Expedition involves planning and completing a longer outdoor journey, and Residential involves staying away from home for at least five days and four nights.

The Gold level requires participants to complete six sections: Service, Physical Recreation, Skills, Expedition, Residential, and a Social or Environmental Focus. Service and Physical Recreation are the same as the Bronze and Silver levels, but Skills involves developing a skill or hobby to an even higher level, Expedition involves planning and completing a longer and more challenging outdoor journey, Residential involves staying away from home for at least five days and four nights, and the Social or Environmental Focus involves taking part in a project that benefits the community or environment. Schools may meet the criteria of the program by organizing activities such as community service projects, physical fitness challenges, and outdoor expeditions.
