Travelling to Lombok Indonesia..
Lombok is an island in Indonesia which neighbors Bali to the West and Sumbawa to the East. You therefore have two options to get there – air or sea! The airport, Lombok Praya (LOP) is located in central Lombok, 40km from the capital, Mataram, and 55km from popular tourist destination, Sengiggi. You can fly on a domestic airline from Bali or other Indonesian cities, or internationally from Singapore, Malaysia, Hong-Kong etc. There used to be direct flights from Perth Australia to Lombok, but these are not currently running. We recommend you check online for flights, using a service such as Skyscanner. If you don’t want to fly, you can also get a fast boat or ferry. Most of the fast boats leave from the port of Padang Bai in Bali, and travel to Sengiggi, the Gili Islands, and Bangsal Harbour. There is also a recently opened service that travels direct to Kuta Lombok in the South of the island. The main ferry terminal on Lombok is Lembar. Although it is cheap, we don’t usually recommend that people catch the ferry to Lombok, as it is slow and frequently delayed. Please subscribe to our newsletter on our blog page, as we will be posting a more detailed guide about how to get to and travel around Lombok in the near future.
Are the Gili Islands close to Lombok Island?
Yes, the Gili Islands lie just off Lombok, and are administered by the Lombok government. The three best-known Gilis (Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, Gili Air) are located on North West Lombok, around 4km from Bangsal Harbour (Gili Air).

Most travellers writing reviews say they found climbing Mt Rinjani hard, but if you are fit and in good health, it is an achievable mountain for most people.
